1. Our Fundamental Commitment
Express was created on a single uncompromising premise: your vulnerable thoughts, reflections, and emotions belong exclusively to you. We do not sell your personal data, we do not monetize your voice, and we do not serve advertisements.
2. Where Your Voice Recordings Live
Zero Central Audio Server: We do not store your recordings on a centralized company server. Your audio files reside entirely in your browser's private offline storage (IndexedDB) and in your personal Google Drive account.
- Local Browser Storage: All recordings, titles, moods, and transcripts are saved inside your device's browser sandbox.
- Google Drive Private Folder (
appDataFolder): If you choose to sync with Google Drive, Express connects strictly to your private Google Drive application folder. These files cannot be seen by other apps or through normal Drive browsing and can only be accessed by you inside Express.
3. Speech Transcripts & AI Training
When speech transcription is enabled, your speech is converted to text using your browser's native Web Speech API. Transcripts are stored locally alongside your audio moments.
We do not use your voice recordings or transcripts to train artificial intelligence models, speech recognition engines, or commercial machine learning algorithms.
4. Private PIN Protection
Express includes a 4-digit PIN lock to safeguard sensitive moments. When locked, moments cannot be played, scrubbed, or exported without verifying your PIN. Your PIN is stored solely on your device.
5. Third-Party Services & Google Identity
Express utilizes Google OAuth for secure sign-in and Google Drive REST API for personal cloud sync:
- Express's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We request only the minimum required scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata(access only to Express's own configuration and files).
6. Data Sovereignty & Backups
You have full sovereignty over your data:
- Immutable Reflections: Your moments are preserved locally as immutable emotional records and synchronized with your private Google Drive appdata folder.
- Export Archive: You can download a complete ZIP bundle of all audio and metadata at any time under Settings → Backup & Restore.
- Sign Out & Clear: Signing out disconnects Google Drive access immediately.
